Roger Pressman
Dr. Roger S. Pressman is a software engineering guru. For over
30 years, he has worked as a software engineer, a manager, a
professor, an author, and a consultant, focusing on software
engineering issues.
Dr. Pressman has designed and developed products that are used
worldwide for software engineering training and process
improvement—Essential Software Engineering , the industry's most
comprehensive video curriculum in software engineering, and
Process Advisor, the industry's first self-directed software
process improvement product.
Process Advisor is a simple, yet powerful, self-directed system,

Practitioner's Approach, is the world's most widely used
software engineering textbook. Worldwide, SEPA has sold more
than 3-4 million copies and is the world's best selling book in
software engineering. The book has been translated into eight
languages (recent translations include: Chinese (2 dialects),
Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian). SEPA has been used at
over 500 Universities worldwide. SEPA is widely used in industry
and is required reading for many industry and government short
courses.
The sixth edition of the book (SEPA, 6/e) accommodates the
dramatic growth in the field and emphasizes new and important
software engineering methods. It includes information on
architectural design, interface design, component-based software
engineering, and web engineering. To complement SEPA 6/e, a
comprehensive website called SepaWeb is being developed. The
website will provide a broad array of software engineering
resources that will benefit instructors, learners, and industry

Dr. Pressman has been on the Editorial Boards of IEEE Software
and The Cutter IT Journal. He is a well-known speaker, keynoting
a number of major industry conferences. He has presented
tutorials at many industry meetings. He is a member of the IEEE,
ACM, and Tau Beta Pi.
